Larry Jenkins, MD, Past President
Larry was born, raised and educated in Southern California, attending the USC School of Medicine and completing Orthopedic and Spine surgical training at the Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center. Larry and his wife Amy decided to raise their two young children in Laramie, Wyoming where they found a wonderful community. Larry was the first Fellowship Trained Spine Surgeon in the state, and his group was a leader in providing expert orthopedic care to very rural communities throughout Wyoming and Nebraska. Larry was involved with many volunteer efforts focused on healthcare in Wyoming and served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, and on the Executive Committee of the Wyoming Medical Society. He was honored in 2013 by the Wyoming Medical Society as the Wyoming Physician of the year for his volunteer efforts. After retiring to Steamboat Springs, Larry was eager to continue his volunteer work in our local community and healthcare delivery system. He was attracted to Northwest Colorado Health after investigating our mission, scope and values and joined their Board in 2018. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors whenever possible, loves to travel, and also volunteers as a Heeling Friends Therapy Dog handler. He is also serves on the Yampa Valley Community Foundation’s Grant Committee and the Casey’s Pond Advisory Committee.
