Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) is low-cost health and dental insurance for eligible children and pregnant women in Colorado. It may be an option for families who earn too much to qualify for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) but cannot afford private health insurance. Northwest Colorado Health offers free health insurance enrollment assistance to help families understand their options and apply for coverage. Who Qualifies for CHP+ in Colorado?
Northwest Colorado Health provides free CHP+ application assistance. Our enrollment specialists can help you review the requirements, complete your application and understand the next steps.
As of April 1, 2026, a family of four may qualify for CHP+ with a household income of up to approximately $7,150 per month, or $85,800 per year. Income limits change annually, and the State of Colorado makes the final eligibility determination.
Generally, an applicant must:
- Be pregnant or 18 years old or younger
- Live in Colorado
- Meet the current CHP+ household income guidelines
- Not qualify for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program)
- Not have other health insurance
What Does CHP+ Cost?
Enrollment in CHP+ is free. Some members may have small co-pays for certain medical, dental or prescription services, depending on household income and their CHP+ health plan. Preventive care, including checkups and prenatal care, does not have a co-pay. Pregnancy care—including prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum visits—is also provided without co-pays.
Children and pregnant applicants who need immediate care may qualify for temporary coverage through Presumptive Eligibility while their CHP+ application is being reviewed.
