Brenda Nichols
My name is Brenda Nichols, and I have proudly called Northwest Colorado home for most of my life. After graduating from Moffat County High School, I attended Adams State University to study Special Education. However, my career path shifted toward entrepreneurship, and I spent over 30 years operating successful McDonald’s franchise locations in Craig, Steamboat Springs, Granby, and Winter Park with my husband, until our retirement in 2017. Through building this business, I gained extensive leadership experience, directly managing large teams, complex operational budgets, and full profit-and-loss (P&L) statements.
Community service has always been a central pillar of my life. Over the years, I have dedicated my time to several local leadership and volunteer roles, including:
- Executive Board Member for our local Parrot Heads, a philanthropic organization focused on fundraising to support regional community projects and local schools.
- Committee Member for Cowboy Christmas, a signature fundraising event that benefits the Boys & Girls Club in Craig.
- Committee Member for the Car Show held during the Moffat County Balloon Festival.
- Former Board Member for the local Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program prior to the board’s disbandment.
Since retiring, I have returned to my early roots in education by serving as a part-time substitute teacher for Moffat County Schools, which has been an incredibly rewarding way to support our local youth.
As a long-time resident and a new patient of Northwest Colorado Health, I am deeply invested in the overall wellness, infrastructure, and growth of our region. On a personal note, my husband, Chris, and I love spending time with our children, grandchildren, and our two dogs, and we share a passionate, community-favorite hobby of putting together extreme Christmas light displays.
