Nursing Home Administrator (Steamboat Springs - Casey's Pond)
General Statement of Duties:
Provides leadership, management, and licensed nursing home administration for DOAK Skilled Nursing at Casey's Pond. Ensures the mission, values, and strategic goals of Northwest Colorado Health are reflected in daily operations, resident care, regulatory compliance, staffing practices, and long-term planning for the skilled nursing facility.
Oversees the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered skilled nursing services. Partners with the Senior Director of Casey's Pond, Director of Nursing, interdisciplinary team members, residents, families, medical providers, and agency leadership to support safety, dignity, quality outcomes, and financial sustainability.
Champions a culture of excellence, compassion, accountability, and respect while fostering collaboration, transparency, and consistency across DOAK Skilled Nursing staff and the broader Casey's Pond community.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Senior Director of Casey's Pond and provides report to the governing Board of Directors.
Supervision Exercised: Directly and/or indirectly supervises DOAK Skilled Nursing staff and skilled nursing department leadership, including the Director of Nursing and other staff as assigned.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for the operation and delivery of high-quality skilled nursing services.
• Oversees daily operations for DOAK Skilled Nursing in alignment with resident needs, regulatory requirements, and organizational priorities.
• Ensures residents receive safe, person-centered, trauma-informed, and dignity-preserving care.
• Supports effective admission, discharge, transfer, and care transition processes in collaboration with clinical and interdisciplinary teams.
2. Responsible for skilled nursing regulatory compliance and survey readiness.
• Serves as the licensed Nursing Home Administrator for DOAK Skilled Nursing.
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including resident rights, life safety, infection prevention, quality assurance, and reporting requirements.
• Leads survey readiness efforts, plans of correction, and follow-through on regulatory findings or opportunities for improvement.
3. Responsible for team leadership, staffing, and employee development.
• Recruits, supports, coaches, and leads DOAK Skilled Nursing staff in alignment with organizational values and performance standards.
• Partners with Human Resources and department leaders on hiring, onboarding, retention, performance management, corrective action, and workforce planning.
• Supports staffing plans and scheduling practices that promote resident safety, continuity, compliance, and responsible use of resources.
4. Responsible for quality improvement, resident-centered care, and risk management.
• Leads or supports quality assurance and performance improvement efforts for skilled nursing operations.
• Uses data, resident feedback, survey results, incident trends, staffing information, and quality indicators to identify risks and drive improvement.
• Builds meaningful relationships with residents and families and supports timely resolution of questions, concerns, and grievances.
5. Responsible for budget, resources, and operational performance.
• Participates in developing and managing the skilled nursing operating budget in alignment with organizational planning.
• Monitors financial performance, staffing costs, supplies, census, occupancy, payer mix, and other operational indicators.
• Coordinates contract management, vendor relationships, supplies, equipment, and major purchases with Casey's Pond and agency leadership as appropriate.
6. Serves as key leader, team member, and collaborator.
• Leads a culture reflective of the Agency mission, values, and belief statement.
• Collaborates with other Casey's Pond departments to support a seamless continuum of care for older adults.
• Acts as a liaison among DOAK Skilled Nursing, Casey's Pond leadership, Agency leadership, residents, families, regulators, and community partners.

Education and Licensure:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, Long-Term Care Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Public Health Administration, or other related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of an unencumbered Nursing Home Administrator license in the State of Colorado required.
Experience:
Three or more years' experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, older adult services, or health care operations required; five or more years preferred. Experience in nursing home administration, regulatory survey readiness, personnel management, quality improvement, resident/family relations, budget management, and strategic and operational planning preferred.
Requirements:
1. If car is used, must provide proof of adequate insurance coverage totaling at least $300,000 and valid Colorado driver's license.
2. Current immunization history, after job offer and before starting job.
3. Shall be required to have a tuberculin skin test in accordance with Agency policy.
4. Must maintain an active, unencumbered Colorado Nursing Home Administrator license and meet applicable continuing education and renewal requirements.

3. Knowledgeable and skilled in staff management, community relations, family communication, public relations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Abilities:
1. Must be able to coordinate DOAK Skilled Nursing staff and interdisciplinary partners to meet residents' needs.
2. Ability to develop and implement long-range plans, operational plans, quality improvement plans, and day-to-day workflows.
3. Provides a positive approach to discerning opportunities for improvement or change, taking advantage of situations, and functioning as a change agent.
4. Must be able to embrace the Agency's mission, vision and values, strategic plan, and direct skilled nursing operations in alignment with these.
Equipment:
1. Daily use of telephone, copier, computer, electronic health record, and other office or facility equipment.
Working Conditions:
1. Position is in a well-lighted, accessible office and skilled nursing facility environment, and involves sitting, walking, standing, and moving throughout resident care areas.
2. This position has been classified as Patient-Facing, a position in which the incumbent could reasonably be expected to routinely interact with patients/residents and/or patient/resident family members. Employees in Patient-Facing positions are exposed to healthcare conditions that may require additional training, immunizations, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
